MSOC Bested by the Seahawks

THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University Men's soccer team fell to the Seahawks from Keiser University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas (4-7-1, 0-5-1 SUN) battled hard against the number four team in the nation holding the Seahawks (9-1, 5-0 SUN) scoreless in the first half, as both teams took turns creating chances.

Thomas had two back to back opportunities just past the 20-minute mark when the Night Hawks registered two shots off of corner pieces. Despite the efforts, Keiser goalkeeper Dario Salzer denied Thomas' shots picking up two of his three saves in the contest.

Neither team could crack open the first half, as both teams headed to the locker rooms for the mid-game break with a scoreline of 0-0.

Second half action started in Keiser's possession, as the Seahawks created two corners and three shots within the first five minutes after resumption.

The first goal of the contest came in the 51st minutes after a rebound off TU goalkeeper Stephen Douglas landed at the foot of Keiser midfielder Julius Fassbinder who broke the scoreless tie picking up his second goal of the season.

After conceding, Thomas struggled to create chances, as the Seahawks limited the Night Hawks to just five shots (one on net) in the second half.

The final goal of the contest came in the 83rd minute as KU forward Luca Malvicini broke behind the TU backline putting the game out of reach and scoring his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Defensively, TU held strong limiting a team that has averaged four goals per contest in SUN play to two goals Saturday afternoon. Night Hawk goalkeeper Stephen Douglas continued his solid play in net picking up eight saves to add to his impressive rookie season resume for the Green and White.

For the match, KU held a 27-10 edge in total shots and a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal in route to their fourth straight win. Thomas falls to 0-5-1 in the Conference and are officially on the outside looking in in the conference's tournament picture.

Up next, the Night Hawks host a non-conference contest against #11 Georgia Gwinnett College on Wednesday, before Florida Memorial pays a trip to the Rose City for the Men's Senior Day later in the week.
