Late Push in Lake Wales Not Enough As TU Falls Short

Angelo Pontello | Sports Information Director | @apontello44

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Thomas University Women's basketball team fell behind by as many as 14 points, nearly coming back to tie the game after late miscues from Warner, but the Lady Night Hawks were consistently one step behind WU for 40 minutes, losing to the Royals 50-48 Saturday afternoon at the Turner Athletic Center.

The Hunter Green & White (1-7, 1-7 TSC) had eight, extra shot chances to convert on go-ahead scores, but missed jumpers and lay-ups, along with a 5-for-11 team effort from the charity stripe, ended up costing TU a chance to pick up its second, straight TSC win.  Thomas finished the afternoon shooting 32% from the field and just 39% long-range.

Senior Guard Alexis Powell finished the day with 12 points, converting 50% of shots from downtown.  Despite a rough day from the field, Senior Guard Alisha Clayton came down with nine boards, while accumulating five steals and four assists.
