Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Tim Hays and the #16 Southeastern University Women's basketball made sure they taught the Lady Night Hawks a hard lesson Tuesday night, as TU was defeated 105-42 at the Furnace.
 
In 80 possessions, Thomas (1-8, 1-8 TSC) was allowed 40 shot attempts all game, shooting 32.5%.  For the third time in four games, the Lady Night Hawks shot over 40% long range, finishing the night 6-for-14.  The Hunter Green & White had a strong showing from the free throw line, converting 10 of its 13 attempts from the charity stripe.  #16 Southeastern (12-2, 10-0 TSC) shot just under 58% from the court and 52% long range.
 
Senior Guard Alexis Powell finished the night with 15 points, three assists, and two boards.  Senior Forward Destiny Reed recorded 10 points with seven rebounds.
 
1st Quarter (SEU 26, TU 9)
  • SEU's Hailey Howarth found her sweet spots on the court, claiming 14 of the Fire's 26 quarter points
  • The Lady Night Hawks shot 33% from the field
 
2nd Quarter (SEU 48, TU 22)
  • TU was held scoreless for 6 minutes and 38 seconds, a span that went back to the first quarter, until Destiny Reed hit a layup at the 6:32 mark
  • Alexis Powell led TU scorers in the quarter with nine points, shooting 75% from outside the arc
  • The Lady Night Hawks' defense held the Fire to two Made 3-Ptrs., limiting SEU to 29% long range
  • Thomas had its best offensive showing in the period, shooting 44.4% from the field
 
3rd Quarter (SEU 80, TU 32)
  • The Hunter Green & White forced five turnovers
 
4th Quarter (SEU 105, TU 42)
  • The Fire turned the ball over six times
  • After the Fire reached triple digits with 3:44 remaining, TU finished the game with an 8-4 scoring run
