COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to down Rio Grande (Ohio), 7-6, Sunday morning at the NFCA NAIA Leadoff Classic.
Rio Grande scored one run in the top of the first, then Thomas answered with two in the first and one in the second. URG regained the lead with three runs in the third and two in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth inning, Thomas plated four in the sixth to take the 7-6 win.

Rebecca Boesen struck out two and allowed four runs from five hits in 3.0 innings before
Sheala Brown came in for relief. Brown picked up the win after allowing just two runs from four hits while striking out two.
Larran Carter earned the 1.0 inning save, striking out two of her three batters faced.
Makana Pember went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, one walk and one stolen base.
Addyson Mauldin rocked a 2-run home run and had a two-RBI single to right, and Corryne Daiz went 2-for-2 with a walk and she was hit by a pitch.
Thomas (7-6) went 2-3 in the Classic, defeating Rio Grande 7-6 and Lawrence Tech 12-4, but falling to Reinhardt 6-3, Georgetown 4-3 and Georgia Gwinnett 14-4.
The Night Hawks next travel to Gulf Shores, Ala., for the Gulf Shores Invitational Tournament. Thomas plays Columbia College (Mo.) and William Woods University March 6, then on March 7, face William Carey University (Miss.) and Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.).
