THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team defeated Brewton-Parker College, 5-3 and 4-0, Saturday at Armory Field to open the 2020 season.
Game One
After allowing one run in the top of the first inning, Thomas bounced back with three in the third to take the lead. But B-PC tied the game in the top of the fifth, 3-3.
Holly Campbell doubled to left in the bottom of the seventh to drive in a pair of runs and win the game.
Campbell went 2-for-3 in the game with a double and a triple, two RBI, a run scored and a drawn walk.
Makana Pember was also 2-for-3, scored twice and tallied two stolen bases.
Rebecca Boesen went the distance on the mound, striking out four while allowing one earned run from six hits and no walks.
Game Two
The second outing was all Thomas, as the Night Hawks plated two runs in the fourth, then one in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
Kennedy Hardy was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Pember swiped two more bases, had one hit and scored once. No Night Hawk struck out in the game.
Pitchers
Sheala Brown and
Larran Carter combined to strike out seven batters in the shutout. In 5.0 innings, Brown allowed three hits, and Carter didn't give up a hit in 2.0 innings.

The Night Hawks are back on the field Feb. 15 to face Columbia International University in a double header beginning at 1 p.m.
