THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University softball team shut out Columbia International University 8-0 in the first game, then lost the second game, 6-1, Saturday at Armory Field.
The Night Hawks are 3-1 on the season.
Game One
Thomas plated two runs in the third, then three in both the fourth and fifth innings to take the 8-0 win. The Night Hawks collected nine hits from eight players.
Holly Campbell was 2-for-3 at the plate and
Michaela Farr hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the final frame. Jaelynn Vailpando tagged a double for TU.
Pitcher
Margarita Sena held Columbia scoreless in her 5.0-inning outing, allowing just three hits and striking out one batter.
Game Two
After Columbia scored a pair of runs in the second inning, Thomas cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the third. CIU plated one in the fourth, then three in the fifth to take the 6-1 win.
Campbell and
Kennedy Hardy each tallied a double and Makena Pember was 2-for-3 with a stolen base, an RBI and a drawn walk.
Starting pitcher
Sheala Brown took the loss, allowing six runs from 14 hits in 6.1 innings.
Next Up
Sunday, Feb. 16, Thomas hosts Columbia College (S.C.) in a double header that begins at 1 p.m. at Armory Field.
