MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. –
Jewel Montisano knocked down four 3-pointers on her way to 14 points in Thomas University's 70-63 loss to St. Thomas University Thursday at the Fernandez Family Center.
Montisano was 4-of-6 from deep and hit both of her free throw attempts to co-lead the Night Hawks in scoring.
Samantha Gilbert also had 14 points, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and
Alexis Powell added 13 points, four assists and four steals.
Alisha Clayton grabbed 15 rebounds for Thomas, and had six points, two assists, a pair of steals and two blocked shots.
Thomas falls to 3-15 overall and 1-13 in the Sun Conference while St. Thomas improves to 10-15, 7-8.
The Night Hawks took the 16-12 lead after the first quarter, but trailed 32-31 at the half. TU was outscored 20-14 in the third quarter, and each team scored 18 in the final quarter.
Thomas hit 50 percent (10-20) of its shots from long range and scored 28 points off of 19 forced STU turnovers.
The Night Hawks have three regular season games remaining on the slate, including outings at Florida Memorial in Miami Gardens (Feb. 15), and at Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla., Feb. 20. Then Thomas ends the year Feb. 22 in the TU Gymnasium against Webber International.
