AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Thomas University Men's Cross Country team ran hard and gave everything they had, which resulted in a third-place finish Saturday morning in The Sun Conference Cross Country Championships out of the eight participating schools, behind a vaunted Southeastern University team, which won the TSC Championship, and host Ave Maria.

In just the team's second season of existence, the Night Hawks proved they were on the cusp of becoming an elite team in TSC competition.  Just one season ago, TU finished seventh in their TSC Championship debut.  This year, the Hunter Green & White were narrowly edged out by the Gyrenes by five points (93-98) for the runner-up plaque.

Freshman Justin Tomison and Sophomore Andrew Guillory were named to TSC's All-Conference Second Team, placing 11th and 12th, respectively, but were two runners away from qualifying for NAIA Nationals.  Tomison was edged out of a Top 10 finish by 6.3 seconds.

"It's been a great season." said Coach Scott Hutchinson.  "We had a season of trials and tribulations with a number of hurdles to overcome with a pandemic and us being short.  We were shut down for 18 days in October so our athletes weren't able to practice with coaches and teammates so for them to achieve what they did, I am so proud of all of them. This program is definitely heading in the right direction; look forward to seeing what we can become with our new programs."
