THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Thomas University has released the 2020-21 men's basketball schedule, the school announced Sunday.
Under the direction of first year coach
T.J. Rines, the Night Hawks will open the slate Oct. 24 against Brewton-Parker at the TU Gymnasium. Thomas will play in a pair of tournaments this season, with the Life Tournament in Marietta, Ga., held Oct. 30-31 and the Faulkner Tournament in Montgomery, Ala., Nov. 27-29.
TU will play 20 Sun Conference games this season, 10 home and 10 away, facing each TSC opponent twice, and a third game with four teams (two home, two away) based primarily on geography. All 20 games will count towards conference standings, and the conference tournament will include eight teams (increased from six) for 2020-21 to accommodate for the unbalanced schedule.
Following the opener and Life Tournament, Thomas will face Middle Georgia State Nov. 4 in Macon, Ga., before returning home to face reigning Sun Conference Champion Southeastern University Nov. 14 in the first league matchup of the season. After a trip to Babson Park, Fla., to battle Webber International University Nov. 19, TU hosts College of Coastal Georgia Nov. 21.
In the Faulkner Tournament, the Night Hawks will compete against host Faulkner (Nov. 27), William Carey (Nov. 28) and Brescia (Nov. 29), in Montgomery, Ala.
Ave Maria University (Dec. 3) and Keiser University (Dec. 5) come to town for a pair of TSC contests before TU hits the road for a pair of exhibitions and two league games. Dec. 18 TU battles Stetson, then on the 21st, faces Kennesaw State, followed by two games in Miami Gardens, Fla., against Florida Memorial University (Jan. 7) and St. Thomas University (Jan. 9).
Thomas then plays six of the next eight league games on the road. After a home game with College of Coastal Georgia Jan. 14, the Night Hawks travel to Warner University (Jan. 16), Southeastern University (Jan. 19) and Coastal Georgia (Jan. 21). Webber International University then comes to the TU Gymnasium Jan. 23, followed by Keiser University (Jan. 28), Ave Maria University (Jan. 30) and Webber International University (Feb. 2) all away from home.
The Night Hawks end the regular season with four of the last five matchups on their home court. Thomas hosts Warner University Feb. 4, then St. Thomas University Feb. 11 and Florida Memorial University Feb. 13. After a road game at Warner University on Feb. 18, TU ends the regular season Feb. 20 against Southeastern University.
