Reed Posts Double-Double vs. Florida Memorial

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Thomas University's Destiny Reed scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Night Hawks' 74-67 loss to Florida Memorial University Thursday at the TU Gymnasium. 

Reed was 8-of-14 from the field and hit all six of her free throws to lead Thomas. She also tallied two assists and a steal. 

TU and FMU were tied at 14 after the first quarter, but the Lions ran away with the second quarter, taking the 43-23 lead into the half. Thomas outscored Florida Memorial 44-31 in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Night Hawks fell to 2-8 overall and 0-6 in the Sun Conference. 

The Night Hawks hit 23-of-50 shots (46.0%), the second-best outing of the season, behind a 50 percent (26-52) night against Johnson & Wales University. 

Alexis Powell added 18 points, knocking down a trio of 3-pointers, and recorded five assists, three steals and two rebounds. Jewel Montisano drained four shots from long range on her way to 14 points. 

Thomas is back in action Saturday when the Night Hawks face St. Thomas University (Fla.) at 2 p.m. in the TU Gymnasium.
