PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Thomas University women's swimming team competed in its first event of the fall on Friday at the University of West Florida Aquatic Center.
The Night Hawks had nine top five finishes in the season opening event.

In the 200 yard medley relay,
Kyndall Cardoso,
Hope McNair,
Maggie Davis and Mary Lou Kalaitzis finished third with a time of 1:53.23 and in the 200 yard freestyle relay,
Chardonay Tophia, Davis, Kalaitzis and
Marien Rincon Medina combined to swim a fifth-place 1:48.58.
Tophia also finished second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.69 and touched the wall in 57.17 to finish third in the 100 yard freestyle
In the 500 yard freestyle, first-year Night Hawk Cardoso took second at 5:22.84. In the 200 yard butterfly, Cardoso placed fourth (2:16.28) and Davis closely trailed in fifth (2:16.82). Cardoso also took third in the 200 yard IM (2:21.55), edging out fifth-place McNair (2:27.77).
McNair took fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:49.80.
Thomas is back in action Oct. 19 in Thomasville, competing against South Georgia State College and Point University.
