THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's soccer team defeated Trinity Baptist College, 11-0, Saturday afternoon in the Night Hawks' season opener.
TU netted five goals in the first period and six in the second stanza to earn the victory. Nine Night Hawks scored a goal and five tallied an assist. Thomas attempted 40 shots, including 27 on goal and TU held TBC to just six shots, one on goal.

Joao Victor Felix led the Night Hawks with one goal and four assists, while
Gavin Rochford-Smith scored a pair of goals and added one assist, attempting eight shots, including four on goal.
Sam Eyes also netted two goals, attempting five shots, four of which were on goal.
Thomas scored early, as Rochford-Smith found the back of the net at 3:13, then
Aron Wimberly tapped in a rebound at 7:31. Just two minutes later,
Rene Rivera added the third goal of the game, off a cross from Rochford-Smith. In the final minute of the half, Rochford-Smith finished a low cross from Felix into the top right corner (44:28) and Eyes finished an assist from Felix (44:59).
At 51:23,
Jack Chambers sent a cross to
Cavan Daley for the first goal of the second period. TU then scored five goals over the next 12 minutes to start the season with a W.
Mateo Arbelaez sent a ball over the top to
Salvador Marin, who finished in the bottom left corner at 70:59. Arbelaez then scored one of his own at 76:17, off an assist from Felix.
The ninth goal of the game was netted by
Selwyn Slotegraff, assisted by
Shem Wilson. A through ball from Felix allowed Eyes to finish a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal at 79:31. At 83:30, Felix used some tricky feet in the penalty box and scored in the bottom left of the goal for TU's final goal.
Thomas is back in action Aug. 31 at noon, when the Night Hawks face RV Cumberland (Tenn.) in the Labor Day Grizzly Classic in Lawrenceville, Ga. TU will also face No. 12 Georgia Gwinnett Sept. 2 in the Classic.
