Thomas Sweeps Doubleheader vs. Keiser

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team defeated Keiser University, 4-3, 9-6, Saturday afternoon at Armory Field. 

Thomas moves into fourth place in the Sun Conference with its 17-17, 11-7 record, and Keiser falls to eighth at 19-17, 5-9. 

The Night Hawks next hit the road to face Warner University in a Sun Conference doubleheader on Wednesday in Lake Wales, Fla. 

Game One
After Keiser scored one in the top of the first, Thomas jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Keiser cut the lead with one in the third, then both teams plated a solo run in the sixth. 

Shortstop Holly Campbell and centerfielder Barbara Woll each hit a double and scored a run for TU. 

Sheala Brown improved to 6-6 on the season, striking out five and allowing three runs from 10 hits and a walk in her complete 7.0-inning game appearance. 

Game Two
Thomas led 5-1 after four innings, but Keiser battled back with four in the top of the fifth. TU answered with two in the bottom of the fifth, then Keiser added one more in the sixth. The Night Hawks plated two more in the sixth to take the 9-6 win. 

The Night Hawks outhit Keiser, 14-8, connecting on five doubles and a triple. 

Campbell was 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple, a double, an RBI and a trio of runs scored. She also drew a walk and stole a base. Woll, left fielder Gaby Mora, second baseman Hannah Wilde and right fielder Izzy Ekstam each connected on a pair of hits. 

Rebecca Boesen (8-6) struck out five and allowed three earned runs on five hits and three walks in 4.1 innings to take the win. Emily Bowne came in for 2.2 innings of relief, allowing two runs from three hits and two walks.
