LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Thomas University baseball team won its second straight Sun Conference series, defeating No. 19 Warner University in two of three games this weekend.
The Night Hawks beat Warner 3-1 on Friday, then won the second game, 6-3, but fell, 4-1, in the final game. TU also took down No. 24 Webber International in two of three games last weekend.
Thomas improves to 20-19 overall and 6-9 in the league while Warner falls to 30-15, 10-8.
The Night Hawks are back in action next weekend, facing Ave Maria University in a doubleheader on Friday, and a single game on Saturday in Ave Maria, Fla.
Game One
Thomas went ahead in the top of the first inning, then Warner tied the game in the bottom of the third. TU plated three in the top of the fourth, then added one in the seventh to lead, 5-1. The Royals added two in the eighth, but Thomas added an insurance run in the top of the ninth to win, 6-3.
The Night Hawks batters drew eight walks and were hit by two pitches.
Left fielder Maury Gonzalez was the only Night Hawk with multiple hits, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Right fielder

Pitcher
Law Carter (5-3) earned the win, striking out three and allowing just two earned runs from five hits and a pair of walks in 7.2 innings.
Keyton Smith tossed 0.1 inning of relief, then
Caleb Rogers closed the game, earning the save in 1.0 inning of work.
Game Two
Warner struck first, scoring one run in the first, then added three in the bottom of the fourth. Thomas scored one in the top of the eighth, but it wasn't enough as the Night Hawks fell, 4-1.
Starting pitcher
Patrick Haley (2-2) took the loss, allowing four earned runs from nine hits and three walked Royals, and struck out four.
Shortstop
Chase Hinson and Heller each connected on a pair of hits, and first baseman
Tyler Keaton tagged a solo home run in the eighth.
