Thomas Ends Regular Season at No. 1 SEU

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Thomas University baseball team ended the regular season at No. 1 Southeastern University Saturday afternoon at Ted A. Broer Stadium. 

The Night Hawks lost, 15-1 and 8-1, to end the season 24-24 overall and 10-14 in the Sun Conference. TU earned the sixth seed in the Sun Conference Tournament, which will be played next week at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Fla. 

Thomas will play conference champion Southeastern on Thursday, May 2 at 11 a.m. in the first game of the tournament. 

Game One
TU plated one run in the top of the first, but SEU scored seven in the second, three in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the 15-1 win. 

Designated hitter Levi O'Steen was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI infield single in the first inning. 

Starting pitcher Chance Carter took the loss for TU, striking out four, but allowing 10 runs from 11 hits and a walk in 4.0 innings. 

Game Two
SEU struck quickly with six runs in the first inning, then TU scored one in the fourth. The Fire added one in the seventh and one in the eighth to win, 8-1. 

Shortstop Chase Hinson tagged a double and a triple, and scored once while third baseman Landon Boyette was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. 

Starter Patrick Haley allowed six runs from five hits and two walks in 0.2 innings to take the loss.
