WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The sixth-seeded Thomas University baseball team took down top-seeded No. 1 Southeastern, 4-3, in the first round of the Sun Conference Tournament held at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
Thomas (25-24) took the early lead with three runs in the top of the third, then Southeastern (47-9) plated two in the bottom of the seventh. TU added one more in the top of the eighth to go ahead by two. SEU scored one in the eighth, then the Night Hawks' defense stranded three SEU runners in the bottom of the ninth to take the 4-3 win.Â

Jake Bryan was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI while second baseman
Luis Martinez had a pair of hits and an RBI and catcher
Jake Webb tagged two hits, including an RBI double.Â
Jorge Meran earned his seventh win of the season, striking out three in 6.2 innings, while allowing two runs from six hits and two walks.
Hassan Westbrook picked up the save, also striking out three, and allowing one run from two hits and two walks in 2.1 innings.Â
Thomas next plays at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, facing the loser of the No. 3 Webber International vs. No. 4 Keiser University game.
