THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore pitcher
Sheala Brown struck out 10 Royals as Thomas University downed Warner University, 6-0, Wednesday at Armory Field. Thomas won the second game, 3-2, to sweep the double header.
With the victories, Thomas (22-20, 14-10) has clinched a spot in the Sun Conference Championship held May 1-4 in Clermont, Fla.
Game One
Brown held the Royals scoreless and allowed just three hits in 7.0 innings of work. Thomas plated three in the first, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to earn the win.
Left fielder
Gaby Mora connected on a two-run homer in the fifth and third baseman
Corryne Diaz drove in two runs in the first inning on a double to left center. Second baseman
Hannah Wilde and right fielder
Izzy Ekstam were each 2-for-3 with a double.
Game Two
The Night Hawks needed two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Warner in the second game. The Royals took the early lead with one run in the second inning, then each team scored one in the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, Wilde singled up the middle, scoring shortstop
Holly Campbell and center fielder
Barbara Woll.
Woll, the reigning Sun Conference Player of the Week, was 3-for-4 in the game, while Wilde and right fielder
Shelby Stephens each connected on a pair of hits.
