THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team swept Faulkner University, 9-1 and 8-1, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Armory Field.
Thomas has one more regular season home date, with a Sun Conference doubleheader against Warner University on April 24. Games will be played at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Armory Field.
Game One
TU plated four runs in the bottom of the third, then after Faulkner put up one run in the fourth, the Night Hawks added three more in the fourth and two in the sixth to take the 9-1 win.
Designated hitter
Addyson Mauldin was 2-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run double to right in the third inning. Second baseman
Hannah Wilde collected four RBI after tagging a three-RBI double to center and connecting on a sac fly to center.
Starter
Margarita Sena (2-5) got the win after tossing 4.0 innings, allowing one unearned run from four hits, while striking out two.
Sheala Brown came in for 2.0 innings of scoreless relief.
Game Two
Thomas scored one run in the first, then another in the bottom of the third to take the 2-0 lead. Faulkner cut the deficit in half, but TU answered with a six-run fifth to break open the margin.
In the fifth, center fielder
Barbara Woll hit a two-RBI triple to right center, third baseman
Corryne Diaz plated two with a single to left and Mauldin cracked a two-run homer. Woll was 2-for-3 in the game with two runs scored.
Emily Bowne started the game for Thomas, striking out two while allowing one run from five hits and a walk in 4.2 innings.
Rebecca Boesen came in for relief, tossing 2.1 innings, striking out three and walking two.
