THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team collected 25 hits in a pair of wins over Brewton-Parker College Tuesday at Varnedoe Stadium.
In the first game, Thomas (16-16) connected on 15 hits, winning 16-7, then tagged 10 more hits in the 8-1 game-two victory. The games against B-PC (14-22) were originally scheduled for Feb. 12, but were postponed due to impending weather.
Thomas returns to Sun Conference play this weekend, facing No. 24 Webber International in a three-game set. Friday night, the first pitch is at 6 p.m., then Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon.
Game One
After catcher
Jake Webb sent the second pitch of the inning over the fence, B-PC scored two runs in the top of the second to take the 2-1 lead. Thomas answered with six in the third, one in the fourth and eight in the fifth to extend the margin to 14 runs. Brewton-Parker fought back, though, with two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
The Night Hawks hit five doubles, drew five walks, were hit by a pair of pitches and stole two bases in the win.
Right fielder
Randy Heller was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored while Webb was 3-for-3 with a leadoff home run, two RBI and a walk. Shortstop
Chase Hinson connected on a pair of doubles, scored once and drove in one run.
Starter
Dillon Rutland earned the win, allowing four runs from eight hits in 6.0 innings.
Christian Michener (3 R, 4 BB, 0.1 IP) and
Sam Wittkopf (0.2 IP) both came in for relief.
Game Two
Thomas jumped out to a four-run lead after the first frame, then B-PC plated one in the second. But the Night Hawks attacked again with four in the fourth to earn the 8-1 win.

Starter
Caleb Rogers tossed 4.0 innings, allowing just one run from four hits while striking out two to earn his second win of the season. Relievers
Keyton Smith (1 K, 1 BB, 3 H, 2.0 IP) and
Ryan Pierce (1 K, 1 BB, 1.0 IP) held the Barons scoreless.
