BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Thomas University softball team lost, 5-3 and 3-0, to No. 13 University of South Carolina Beaufort Saturday afternoon.
Thomas falls to 11-15 overall and 5-5 in the Sun Conference, while Beaufort improves to 23-5, 5-3.
TU next travels to Brunswick, Ga., to face College of Coastal Georgia in a Sun Conference doubleheader Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Game One
Thomas held a three-run lead after two innings, but USCB tied the game in the third, then plated two more in the sixth to take the 5-3 win.
Centerfielder
Barbara Woll and designated player
Addyson Mauldin were both 2-for-3 with a double.
Sheala Brown (3-5) struck out four, but allowed five runs from 11 hits in 6.0 innings to take the loss.
Game Two
USCB recorded one run in the first and added two more in the second to sweep the doubleheader with Thomas on Saturday.
Woll again picked up a pair of hits, the only Night Hawk with multiple hits.
Starter
Rebecca Boesen pitched 1.1 innings, giving up three runs from two hits while striking out two, before
Emily Bowne came in for 4.2 innings of relief. She also struck out two batters, and held USCB scoreless despite allowing three hits.
