MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Thomas University junior
Jorge Meran struck out nine Bobcats in TU's 6-4 loss to No. 10 St. Thomas University Saturday afternoon at Mainieri Field.
Meran, a righty from the Bronx, N.Y., fanned a season-high nine Bobcats, upping his season total to 30 strikeouts in 38.2 innings. Meran is now 3-2 after taking the loss to STU, allowing five runs from seven hits and a pair of walks in 7.0 innings.
Thomas scored three in the third to take a two-run lead, but St. Thomas plated one in the third, two in the fifth and one in the seventh before TU could put up one more in the eighth. STU added one more in the bottom of the eighth to earn the 6-4 win.

Thomas continues its eight-game road swing this Tuesday, facing No. 4 Georgia Gwinnett College in a doubleheader in Lawrenceville, Ga. Next weekend, the Night Hawks travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to play a three-game set with Edward Waters on Friday and Saturday.
