WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Thomas University softball team split with Keiser University Thursday afternoon, falling 8-2 in the first game, then bouncing back with an 11-3 victory in the second game.
Thomas is 8-12 overall with a 2-2 conference record while Keiser is 11-9 overall with a 1-1 league mark.
The Night Hawks continue Sun Conference action on Saturday, March 16, facing Ave Maria University in Florida.
Game One
Keiser scored two in the bottom of the first, then Thomas tied the game in the top of the fourth. But Keiser answered with two in the fourth and four in the fifth to take the 8-2 win.
Starter
Margarita Sena allowed four runs from seven hits while striking out two in 3.1 innings, taking her fourth loss of the season.
Emily Bowne came in for relief, also striking out two and giving up four runs from six hits in 2.2 innings.
Centerfielder
Gaby Mora tagged two hits, including a two-RBI triple, and right fielder
Izzy Ekstam connected on a pair of hits, with a double.
Game Two
Second baseman
Hannah Wilde's two-run homer to right in the top of the first set up the Night Hawks for victory. Keiser cut the lead in half in the second and added one in the third and fifth, but a four-run fourth from the Night Hawks put the game out of reach. Thomas plated one more in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the seventh to earn the 11-3 win.
Shortstop
Holly Campbell (3-for-4) also sent a shot over the wall, and third baseman
Corryne Diaz (3-for-4), designated player
Addyson Mauldin (3-for-4) and Ekstam each recorded a double for TU. Wilde was also 3-for-4 with four runs scored.
Pitcher
Rebecca Boesen earned her third win of the season, allowing just three runs from six hits and striking out one in 4.1 innings.
