Mauldin Goes 5-for-6 At No. 5 GGC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Addyson Mauldin went 5-for-6 as the Thomas University softball team lost a pair of games, 5-4 and 9-4, to No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett College Tuesday afternoon. 

TU recorded eight hits in each game, and collected three doubles in the second outing. 

Thomas next travels to Florida for a pair of Sun Conference doubleheaders this weekend, facing Keiser University in West Palm Beach on March 14 and Ave Maria University in Ave Maria on March 16. 

Game One
The Night Hawks tied the game at three in the top of the seventh, but GGC hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to earn the 5-3 win. 

Thomas left 10 runners stranded on the basepaths in the game and GGC made three fielding errors. 

Emily Bowne pitched the first 3.2 innings for TU, striking out one and allowing three runs from six hits and three walked batters. Rebecca Boesen came in for 3.0 innings of relief, and took the loss after allowing two runs from a pair of hits. 

Designated player Addyson Mauldin was 3-for-4 with a double and shortstop Holly Campbell connected on a pair of hits. Centerfielder Gaby Mora and first baseman Michaela Farr each drew a pair of walks and stole a base. 

Game Two
Thomas scored two in the top of the first, but Georgia Gwinnett answered with three in the bottom of the frame and one in the second. TU added one in the fourth and one in the sixth, but GGC scored five over those three innings to take the 9-4 victory. 

Mauldin was 2-for-2, drew a walk and scored two runs, and third baseman Corryne Diaz, rightfielder Shelby Stephens and leftfielder Brianna Mendoza each tagged a double. 

Sheala Brown tossed the first 4.0 innings, allowing seven earned runs from nine hits and three walks to take the loss.
