THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team lost, 11-5, in the rubber match with Florida Memorial University Saturday afternoon at Varnedoe Stadium.
Thomas falls to 1-5 while FMU improves to 5-3.
TU scored four in the third inning, but the Lions plated nine in the sixth from five hits and two TU errors. Thomas added one in the seventh, then FMU put up one in each of the final two frames to take the 11-5 win.
Starting pitcher
Jorge Meran struck out five and did not allow an earned run, but seven unearned runs were scored from six hits in his 5.2 innings pitched to give the junior righty the loss.
Luis Martinez was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Chase Hinson and
Jose Quintana also tagged a pair of hits for TU.
Thomas is back in action Feb. 12 in Mount Vernon, Ga., facing Brewton-Parker College in a doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m.
