AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team fell, 85-40, to Ave Maria University Thursday night at the Tom Golisano Field House.
With two games to play in the regular season, Thomas is in sixth in the Sun Conference standings with a 7-9 league record. Ave Maria is third at 10-5.
Jewel Montisano led Thomas offensively with 12 points against Ave Maria, knocking down four shots from long range, her fifth game this season with three or more made treys.
Samantha Gilbert added 10 points and
Alisha Clayton pulled down a team high six rebounds.
After a slow start, scoring just two points in the first quarter, Thomas trailed 43-12 at the half. The Night Hawks were then outscored, 42-28, in the second half to take the loss.
The Night Hawks wrap up the regular season with a pair of Sun Conference road games at No. 4 Southeastern (Feb. 9) and College of Coastal Georgia (Feb. 16).
