THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team shut out Trinity Baptist College, 6-0, in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Varnedoe Stadium. TU also won the first game, 11-6. 
The Night Hawks' last four shutouts have been against TBC, including three last season. 
Thomas (4-7, 2-4) next hosts Florida National in a doubleheader Friday, beginning at 1 p.m. at Varnedoe Stadium. TU then faces No. 4 Faulkner University (Ala.) in a pair of games on Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. 
Game One
Thomas came out hot on Tuesday, plating eight runs in the first inning. Each team scored a pair in the second, then TBC added four more in the fourth. TU scored one more in the fifth to earn the 11-6 win. 
Dillon Rutland started the game for TU, but after allowing two runs from four hits in 2.0 innings, 
Ryan Pierce came in for relief. In his one inning of work, Pierce gave up four runs from four hits. 
Sam Wittkopf then earned the victory, allowing no runs from three hits and striking out two in 3.0 innings. 
First baseman 
Jake Bryan popped off a two-RBI double in the first inning and two-run homer in the second for TU while second baseman 
Chase Hinson, right fielder 
Landon Boyette and left fielder Randall Heller each picked up a pair of hits. 
Game Two
Thomas tagged 10 hits, scoring one run in the third and five in the fourth to earn the 6-0 victory. 
Starter 
Caleb Rogers and relievers 
Patrick Haley and 
Brent Summers combined to earn the shutout for Thomas. Rogers earned the win with 5.0 innings of work, striking out two and allowing five hits. 
Designated hitter 
Brandon Paez and Hinson each tagged a double for Thomas, with Hinson picking up three RBI on his hit.
