Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.

TU Blanks Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Thomas University men's soccer team defeated Keiser University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Arrigo-Vevellio Stadium. 

Thomas (5-8, 3-3) is currently sixth in the Sun Conference standings, and Keiser (7-5, 4-2), which is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll, is second. 

After being outshot 7-1 in the first half, Thomas attacked in the second period, taking 10 shots to Keiser's four. Seven of TU's 11 shots were on goal, and just three of Keiser's 11 were on frame. 

In a physical matchup with 30 combined fouls, both teams were scoreless in the first period. Then after the break, Gavin Rochford-Smith netted his 11th goal of the season from a penalty kick at 77:06. The Night Hawks attempted two more shots in the final 13 minutes, but both were saved by the Keiser keeper. 

Cavan Daley attempted three shots, all on goal, and both of Rochford-Smith's attempts were on goal. 

Ben Barnes made three saves in 90 minutes in goal. 

TU has a pair of home matches next week then ends the regular season with two games on the road. Catch the Night Hawks at the TU Soccer Complex Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. against Florida National University, then Oct. 26 at noon against Florida Memorial University.
