THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Four Thomas University women's basketball student-athletes scored in double figures in the Night Hawks' 82-76 win over Florida Memorial Saturday at the TU Gymnasium.
Thomas (8-16, 5-8 TSC) has won two of its last three Sun Conference games, following a victory over Keiser Jan. 19.
Micah Garvin (19),
Samantha Gilbert (17),
Jewel Montisano (13) and
Pkacia Johnson (10) each netted double digits, while
Dymon Brown (9),
Tiara Brown (7),
Alisha Clayton (6) and
Sharai Larry (1), added to the offensive attack.
Thomas shot a season best 55.4 percent (31-56) from the field, and knocked down six shots from long range, which tied the second highest 3-point percentage (46.2%) of the season.
The Night Hawks were also tough on the boards, outrebounding the Lions 49-33. Clayton grabbed 11, Garvin had nine, Gilbert recorded seven and Johnson pulled down six rebounds for TU.
Thomas came out fast to take a 17-11 first-quarter lead, then extended the margin to 47-30 at the half. FMU battled back, winning the third, 30-17, but TU held off the Lions' surge by winning the fourth quarter, 18-16, and taking the 82-76 win.
Thomas next faces Warner University Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the TU Gymnasium.
