MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University men's soccer team tied, 1-1 in double overtime, with St. Thomas University Sunday at the STU Soccer Field.
Thomas is now 3-3-2 with a 2-0-1 record in the Sun Conference while St. Thomas is 2-4-2 with a 1-0-2 mark in the league.
Thomas, which was picked to finish fourth in the Sun Conference this season, currently sits second in the standings.
St. Thomas was predicted to finish first in the league in the 2018 Sun Conference Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, and started the season ranked No. 12 in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll.

Y'Sef Glass scored his fourth goal of the season and junior
Gavin Rochford-Smith tallied his first assist of the year. Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Ben Barnes made five saves in 110 minutes.
Aron Wimberly took Thomas' first strike, a shot from the top of the box that was saved by STU's keeper in the ninth minute.
Jack Chambers sent a strong shot at the net, but despite the ball bouncing off of the goalkeeper's chest, STU was able to block the rebound attempt at corral the ball.
In the 32nd minute, St. Thomas took a corner that was sent to the left side and headed toward the net, but Barnes made the save to keep the match scoreless.
With 20 seconds left in the first half, Glass chased down
Gavin Rochford-Smith's pass from midfield, outran the defense and went 1 v. 1 with the keeper. Glass sent his shot to the top right corner of the net. The ball rattled around the frame and into the back of the net to give Thomas the 1-0 lead going into the break.
St. Thomas tied the match in the 70th minute off a corner kick that was headed to the top middle of the goal, over the outstretched arms of Barnes.
The Night Hawks nearly scored a second goal in the 86th minute, when
Rene Rivera found
Sam Eyes in front of the net. Eyes' shot ricocheted off of the goalkeeper, and Rivera's rebound attempt was blocked by the STU defense.
Neither team was able to score in either overtime, ending in a 1-1 stalemate.
Thomas returns home to face RV Keiser University next Saturday, Oct. 6 at noon at the TU Soccer Complex.
