THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's soccer team opened league play with a 5-0 win over Ave Maria University Saturday at the TU Soccer Complex.
The Night Hawks are now 2-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Sun Conference this fall.
Thomas took a 3-0 lead in the first half, then added two more goals in the second period to take the 5-0 win Saturday. TU outshot AMU 15-3 overall and 9-1 on goal.
Y'Sef Glass scored a pair of goals while
Gavin Rochford-Smith,
Rene Rivera and
Sam Eyes each netted one. Eyes,
Joao Victor Felix and
Salvador Marin each recorded an assist. Goalkeeper
Ben Barnes made one save in 90 minutes.
Rivera scored TU's first goal off an assist from Eyes just seven minutes into the match. Eyes then found the back of the net after a pass from Felix at 36:42. Glass scored his unassisted goal at 39:47 to take the 3-0 lead into the half.
In the second period, Marin assisted Glass' goal at 58:06 and Rochford-Smith netted the fifth and final goal at 68:12.
The Night Hawks return to the TU Soccer Complex Sept. 26 to face Webber International (Fla.) at 1 p.m.
