THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's soccer team took No. 16 Mobile (Ala.) to overtime on Thursday in The Sun Conference / Southern States Challenge, but ultimately lost, 2-1, on a golden goal.

Julie Orlowski. "From a coaching perspective and spectator perspective this game offered a little bit of everything."
After a scoreless first half, Thomas scored on a direct kick by
Anna Gray in the 50th minute, following a yellow card. Mobile tied the match in the 67th minute, and regulation ended in a stalemate. In the first overtime, Mobile scored the game winner with nine seconds left to take the victory.
"We certainly deserved a better ending today. We had our opportunities," added Orlowski. "And when we had our struggles, our goalkeeper made several key saves until we could sort ourselves out."

Kara Houston made eight saves for the Night Hawks, but allowed two, in 99:51 minutes. Mobile outshot Thomas 23-7 overall and 10-3 on goal.
Gray attempted a trio of shots, two of which were on goal, and scored one.

Katy Hanscomb's shot attempt was on goal.
Thomas falls to 1-2-1 while Mobile improves to 4-3, with losses only to ranked teams in No. 9 Keiser, No. 17 John Brown and No. 20 USA-Oklahoma.
Thomas next faces No. 3 William Carey (Miss.) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in its second game of The Sun Conference / Southern States Challenge at the TU Soccer Complex. The Night Hawks then open Sun Conference play on Sept. 22 at home against St. Thomas, which is receiving votes in this week's NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
