THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Senior
Arianna Anderson came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down seven rebounds in Thomas University's 67-57 loss to Ave Maria Thursday night at TU Gymnasium.
Sophomore
Samantha Gilbert added 10 points and junior
De'Audra Copeland added seven points and six boards for the Night Hawks.
TU is now 8-14 overall and 4-12 in the Sun Conference with a pair of league games remaining. Ave Maria improved to 19-6 overall and 10-5 in the conference.
Ave Maria was led by 21 points and nine rebounds from Lauren Gillingham, and Sarah Miller tallied 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Gyrenes.
After trailing 10-5 three minutes into the game, Thomas went on a 12-2 run to end the first quarter with the 17-12 lead. TU led 28-23 at the half, but Ave Maria won both the third (22-11) and fourth (22-18) quarters to take home the victory.
The Night Hawks recorded 13 steals and seven players tallied at least one takeaway, led by four from Anderson and two from Copeland, sophomore
Jewel Montisano and freshman
Alisha Clayton. In total, TU forced 30 turnovers.
Thomas returns to TU Gymnasium Feb. 10 to face Southeastern (Fla.) at 2 p.m., then wraps up the regular season Feb. 17 at home against Coastal Georgia. Tip for that game is also 2 p.m.
