THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's basketball team defeated Coastal Georgia, 60-51, Saturday afternoon at TU Gymnasium to end the regular season.
The Night Hawks finished the season 9-15 overall with a 5-13 conference record. Coastal Georgia dropped to 16-9, 11-6 with the loss.
TU qualified for The Sun Conference Tournament as a 6-seed and will travel to third-seeded Coastal Georgia Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Kriza Allen and
Dymon Brown each netted 17 points for TU while
Arianna Anderson pulled down 13 rebounds in the victory. Allen was 7-of-13 from the field and had five rebounds, four assists and a steal. Brown knocked down 6-of-14 of her shots, including a pair of 3-pointers and a perfect 3-of-3 performance at the line, added to her four rebounds and one assist off the bench.
TU's bench players scored 29 points from Brown (17),
Alexis Moody (6),
Pkacia Johnson (4) and
Samantha Gilbert (2).
Thomas jumped out to the early 21-11 lead after the first quarter, then Coastal Georgia answered with a 17-7 second quarter to knot the game at 28 at the half. Thomas won the third period, 13-10, and the fourth 19-13, to earn the win.
