BABSON PARK, Fla. –
Micah Garvin scored 31 points as the Thomas University women's basketball team defeated Webber International, 70-60, in Sun Conference action Thursday night to snap its five-game losing streak.
Garvin was 13-of-18 from the field, hitting all three of her 3-point attempts, and both of her free throws, to score 31 points for the Night Hawks.
Dymon Brown added 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while
Samantha Gilbert filled her statline with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Thomas forced Webber International to cough it up 25 times, allowing TU to score 27 points off turnovers.
The Night Hawks won the first quarter, 20-15, and led 36-31 at the break. TU outscored Webber 34-29 in the second half.
Brown knocked down a three to open the game, but Webber went on to lead by six, but a layup and a trey from Garvin and a three from Gilbert tied gave TU the 11-9 lead with 4:26 left in the first. Webber tied the game at 11, then
Pkacia Johnson hit a free throw to put TU ahead, 12-11, and the Night Hawks never trailed again.
Thomas is back in Sun Conference action Saturday at 2 p.m., facing Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla.
