LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team defeated Warner University, 80-66, Saturday afternoon to win back-to-back Sun Conference road games.
Micah Garvin led TU with 28 points, hitting a trio of threes, and
Ashley Bostick dished out nine assists.
Alisha Clayton pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Thomas hit 44.1 percent (26-59) from the field, 55.6 percent (10-18) from long range and 90 percent (18-20) at the line while holding Warner to 28.6 percent (4-14) from three.
TU's reserves scored 35 points, led by 15 from
Dymon Brown, along with
Samantha Gilbert's eight, seven from
Akasha Williams and five from
Pkacia Johnson.
Garvin hit a jumper to open the scoring for the game, then Brown knocked down a three to give TU the 7-3 lead. Warner hit a pair of jumpers to tie the game, but Brown drained another trey and Thomas never trailed again.
The Night Hawks (5-8, 3-3) outscored the Royals (5-8, 0-5) in each of the four quarters, taking a 16-12 lead after the first and winning, 42-32 at the half. TU won the third, 18-17, then took the fourth, 20-17, to win, 80-66.
Thomas next returns to action in the Southeastern University Classic held in Lakeland, Fla., facing Indiana Tech Dec. 20 and College of the Ozarks (Mo.) Dec. 21.
