MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Thomas University junior
Samantha Gilbert drained a trio of 3-pointers Thursday evening in the Night Hawks' 90-67 Sun Conference loss to Florida Memorial University.
Gilbert scored 17 points to lead TU, and added four rebounds and one assist. Junior
Akasha Williams grabbed 10 rebounds while dishing out three assists and scoring seven points. Senior
Micah Garvin netted 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds for TU.
The Night Hawks scored 32 points in the paint, to FMU's 16, and TU outrebounded FMU 50-35. The Lions drained 21 shots from long range, hitting 53.8 percent from beyond the arc.
FMU hit a pair of threes to open the game and led, 31-12, after the first quarter. The Lions extended their lead to 31 points at the half, 53-22. Thomas outscored FMU 45-37 in the second period, but the Lions took home the 90-67 win.
TU stays in Miami Gardens, Fla., to face St. Thomas University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
