Bouncing back from a disappointed weekend from Southeastern, the Night Hawks sweep USCB in a three game series winning 2-0, 8-7, and 5-2 with
Lauren West receiving all three wins.
Thomas University had a good weekend with a pitching duel in the first game of the series with only seven hits in the game. TU pulled out on top 2-0. The starting pitching for TU,
Lauren West, pitched a complete game allowing only two hits. Kelsey Connelly and
Gaby Mora combined for four of the five hits with a solo homerun from Connelly and a RBI triple from Mora.
Kaylee Smith had the fifth hit for the Night Hawks.
The bats came alive for both teams in the second game with a combined total of 27 hits. USCB scored one in the first and TU answered back quickly scoring two. Kaityln Stoltz and
Brittany Daniels both had three hit games with Daniels being a bases clearing triple to tie the ball game in the bottom of the sixth at 7-7. In the bottom of the seventh with runners on second and third Kaitlyn Morphis gets a pitch hit walk off single to win the ball game.
Victoria Camina was 2-3 with two runs scored and
Lauren West, who relieved starting pitcher
Jessica Reid, received the win for game two pitching 1.2 innings.
Game three started out with the pitching duel from game one with West and Pac on the mound with Pac giving up one hit to Camina in the first who then scored off an error for the Night Hawks to have a 1-0 lead. West gives up her first hit in the 4
th but USCB doesn't score until the sixth. TU scores four unearned runs and one earned winning the game 5-2. Kelsey Connerly was 1-1 with two walks and
Kaylee Smith was 2-3. West went the distance on the mound giving up three hits with seven strike outs.
TU will be back in action Friday April 21
st and Saturday April 22
nd hosting Webber International for Senior Day.
