Night Hawks Take Two from Edward Waters in Season Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Thomas University softball team started the 2017 campaign with two victories over Edward Waters (Fla.), 8-1 and 10-1, on Wednesday.

TU hosts Montreat College (N.C.) in the home opener 1 p.m. Saturday at Armory field in a double header.

GAME ONE
The Night Hawks plated five runs in the fourth inning and recorded 16 hits and held a .500 batting average in the game.

Katilyn Stoltz and Brittany Daniels both went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Michael Cooper and Taishadlene Kirindongo both hit two-for-three with a run scored and an RBI. Kelsey Connolly went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Jessica Reid collected the win on four innings pitched with one run on three hits and struck out two, while Luana Imamura threw three innings and allowed no runs on three hits and struck out one.

TU scored six runs in the second inning with 15 total hits and a .484 batting average in the contest.
 
Daniels went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Cooper hit 2-for-3 with an RBI. Stoltz went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RIBs.
 
Lauren West threw five inning and allowed one run on two hits and struck out five, while Trinity Strickland pitched an inning and did not allow a run on one hit.
