Night Hawks Pull off 63-61 Win over Florida Memorial

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's basketball team knocked off Florida Memorial, 63-61, on Saturday at the TU Gymnasium. Nine of the 10 players who played for TU scored in the game.

The Night Hawks went to 8-13, 5-8 in The Sun Conference, while the Lions fell to 9-13, 7-5 in TSC. TU hosts St. Thomas 2 p.m. Saturday at the TU Gymnasium for senior night.

J'Nyiah Daniels led all scorers with 18 points, while three players added nine points each. Alexis Moody pulled in a team-best seven rebounds.

The Night Hawks went on an 8-0 run in the first quarter and took a 10-7 lead. The two teams traded baskets and Daniels ended the period with a made three-pointer, while FMU led 20-19.

TU went on an 11-0 run in the second quarter and took a 30-23 lead. Arianna Anderson gave the Night Hawks a double-digit lead with a made layup at 34-24. FMU responded with an 8-0 run and cut the TU lead to 34-32. The Night Hawks held a 36-34 lead at halftime.

TU opened the second half on a 9-2 run and pushed out to a 45-36 lead. FMU responded with a 9-0 run and tied the game at 45-45. The Lions held a 47-46 lead into the final quarter.

Alexis Moody gave the Night Hawks a 51-49 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Lions did not take the lead the last eight and a half minutes of the game. Abreona Camell tied the game at 54-54 with four and half minutes to play. The Night Hawks then went on a 7-2 run and took a 61-56 lead. Daniels made two free throws to seal the game.
