Southeastern Slides past Night Hawks

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team were topped by No. 7 Southeastern (Fla.), 78-51, on Thursday night.

The Night Hawks fell to 7-13, 4-8 in The Sun Conference, while the Fire improved to 20-0, 12-0 in TSC. TU returns home to home Florida Memorial 2 p.m. Saturday for the annual pink game.

Micah Garvin led the Night Hawks with 14 points and added six rebounds, while Arianna Anderson and Alexis Moody led the team with seven rebounds.

Southeastern started the game up 11-5 before Garvin went on a 5-0 run by herself and cut the SEU lead to 11-10. The Fire went on a 7-0 run and took an 18-10 lead. SEU held a 20-14 lead after the first quarter.

The Fire opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run and extended the lead to 27-14. The Night Hawks ended the first half on a 5-2 lead, while the Fire took a 38-22 lead into the locker room.

SEU went on an 8-0 run to start the third quarter and took a 46-22 lead. The Night Hawks held the Fire scoreless in the last minute of the quarter, while SEU led 59-36 into the final quarter.

TU went on a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter and slimmed the lead to 61-46. Southeastern responded with an 11-0 run and pushed the lead back to 74-48. The Fire ended the game with five free throws.
