Night Hawks Split in Final Day of Southeastern Challenge

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Thomas University softball team fell to Bryan College (Tenn.), 7-6, and topped No. 16 Reinhardt, 13-5 in five innings, in the final day of the Southeastern Challenge on Saturday at the Richard Gray Sports Complex.

The Night Hawks went 4-2 over the weekend, knocking off three ranked opponents. TU improved to 9-3 on the season. The Night Hawks travel to Mount Vernon, Ga. to take on Brewton-Parker in a double header starting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

BRYAN

The Night Hawks scored four runs in the seventh inning, including back-to-back home runs, but came up a run short.

Kelsey Connolly went 2-for-3, including two home runs, two runs scored and five RBIs, while Kaitlyn Stoltz hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Cortnee Cifu went 1-for-3, with a home run, a run scored and an RBI, while Taishadlene Kirindongo hit 1-for-2.

Jessica Reid pitched 5.2 innings with seven runs on 11 hits and struck out one, while Luana Imamura collected an out with no runs on no hits.

Lauren West threw all five innings with five runs on six hits and struck out one, improving to 5-0 on the season.
