Thomas plays to 1-1 draw with Wildcats

Box Score

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Thomas played to a 1-1 draw with Johnson & Wales (Fla.) following two overtimes Saturday afternoon in Sun Conference (TSC) action at Miami Shores Village. The Night Hawks remain unbeaten (5-0-1) against the Wildcats.

"We knew today would be a tough match, and we worked hard to battle back at the end of regulation," Green and White coach Ricky Zambrano said. "Give Johnson & Wales credit. They're a good team, but it was important for us to get at least a point from this conference road match which is never easy to do."

Jonas Bukh (4) gave Johnson & Wales (7-4-1, 4-2-1 TSC) a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute following a Thomas (5-7-2, 3-2-2 TSC) turnover in its own third of the field, but a Malcom Frago Mayers to Leo Thompson (9) connection tied the contest with 2:30 to play in regulation.

Thompson poured in a game-high seven shots. Thompson and Gavin Rochford-Smith each had three shots on goal.

Patricio Rolon recorded two shots on goal for the Wildcats.

Night Hawk goalkeeper Lee Howarth (3-3-1) made five saves in 110 minutes.

Johnson & Wales netminder J.C. Diego (1-1-1) turned in seven stops in 110 minutes.

Thomas outshot the home team, 15-14.

Each squad was whistled for two cautions.

The Night Hawks travel to Southeastern (Fla.) for their final regular-season road match on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.
