THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Work continues to move forward on the renovation of Armory Field, Thomas' home softball venue.
Within the last two weeks, two new six-foot tall, black chain link fence gates have been installed next to each dugout, as have two new six-foot tall, silver chain link fence gates halfway down each foul line. A 20-foot long, six-foot tall retractable gate down the left field line has also been installed.
Brown clay has been added to select spots on the warning track nearest the outfield fence.
Construction on the 2,000 square foot storage facility just outside the left field fence has also finished with the installation of two aluminum garage doors.
Tifway 419 Bermuda sod from Pike Creek Turf in Adel, Ga., has been laid just beyond the the outfield fence by Tifway Sports.
Construction on two bullpens, infield seating and paved pathways in the concourse area, along with the erection of two foul poles, is expected to commence within the next 14 days.
The renovation to Armory Field began May 15. The complex re-opened Monday for the team's fall practices. Work is expected to be completed on Armory Field's enhancements prior to first pitch of the alumni game on Jan. 20, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. ET.
