Thomas Men's Soccer Postgame Report - Georgia Gwinnett

COLUMBUS, Ga. - No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett scored the lone goal Tuesday evening in the 77th minute to hold off Thomas, 1-0, in non-conference action at Columbus State's (Ga.) Walden Soccer Complex. The Night Hawks, minus two starters in the match, fall to 3-3 all-time against the Grizzlies.

"It was a hard-fought battle (against) an in-state rival," Green and White coach Ricky Zambrano said. "We battle back and forth over the years. They take one, we take one...it was their chance and opportunity to take one this year."

Michael Weber (6) broke a scoreless tie for Georgia Gwinnett (9-1-1) after receiving a pass in the box from Malik Thornell. 

Samuel Sampaio Gomes had two shots on goal for the Grizzlies.

Leo Thompson totaled a game-high four shots for Thomas (5-7-1), including two on net. Malcom Frago Mayers and Jose Carlos Gonzalez Avellaneda had one shot on goal apiece.

Goalkeeper Matija Gligorovic (8-0-1) made four saves in 90 minutes for Georgia Gwinnett.

Netminder Lee Howarth (3-3) had two saves in 90 minutes for the Night Hawks.

Thomas resumes Sun Conference action Saturday at Johnson & Wales (Fla.) at 2 p.m. ET.
