TU Outlasts Webber in Overtime, 79-70

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's basketball team pulled out a 79-70 overtime win Thursday night at the TU Gymnasium. TU had five players score in double figures in the game.

The Night Hawks went to 6-9, 3-4 in The Sun Conference, while the Warriors fell to 5-11, 1-4 in TSC. TU hosts Johnson & Wales (Fla.) 2 p.m. Saturday at the TU Gymnasium.

De'Audra Copeland recorded a double-double for the Night Hawks with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Arianna Anderson led the team with 14 rebounds. Dymon Brown, J'Nyiah Daniels and Micah Garvin all provided 14 points for TU.

The Night Hawks opened the game with a 14-2 lead. The Warriors closed the first quarter on a 7-2 run while TU held a 16-9 lead after the first period.

Victoria Baggett tied the game at 21-21 for Warner with a made three-pointer in the second quarter. Garvin converted two free throws that gave TU a 25-23 lead at the halftime break.

The Warriors opened the second half with two straight buckets and took a 27-25 lead, their first of the game. The third quarter saw four ties and seven lead changes. Webber held a 46-43 lead into the final period.

Kriza Allen tied the game at 48-48 with two free throws midway through the fourth quarter. The Warriors held a 55-50 lead with less than four minutes left in the game. The Night Hawks went on a 7-0 run and took a 57-55 lead. Daniels converted two free throws with 20 seconds remaining and put TU up 59-56. Baggett banked in a three-pointer and tied the game at 59-59 and sent it into overtime.

The Warriors jumped out to a 63-59 lead early in overtime. Daycia Bandy tied the game at 63-63 with an and one. The Night Hawks went on an 11-1 run and took a 74-66 lead. TU closed the game on a 5-2 run.
