Tennessee Wesleyan Tops TU on Saturday

ATHENS, Tenn. – The Thomas University women's soccer team fell to Tennessee Wesleyan, 4-0, Saturday afternoon.

The Night Hawks fell to 0-3 on the season, while the Bulldogs went to 1-2 on the year. TU plays Union College (Ky.) 2:30 p.m. Monday in Athens, Tenn.

"We played well for 70 minutes of the game, it was just the first 10 minutes that really hurt us," head coach Julie Orlowski said. "They took advantage of our mistakes in the first 10 minutes, but after that we settled in and played well. We had a lot of opportunities in those 70 minutes. They had some really nice players and they are a good team."

Jessica Young scored the first goal of the game for TWU in the eighth minute of the game with assists from Dayna Randall and Nicole Broderick. Three minutes later Broderick extended the Bulldogs lead to 2-0.

Jessica Young scored the first goal of the second half in the 81st minute with an assist from Randall that gave TWU a 3-0 lead. Broderick scored her second goal of the game in the 85th minute with an assist from Hannah Dearing.

Sierra Robinson recorded two saves in goal for the Night Hawks.

TU registered nine shots with five shots on goal.
