TU Tops Florida Memorial in Double Overtime

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's soccer team remained undefeated on the season with a 2-1 victory in double overtime over Florida Memorial Friday at the TU Soccer Complex. Antonio Rodriguez converted a penalty kick in the 102nd minute for the game winner.

The Night Hawks improved to 7-0-1, 1-0-0 in The Sun Conference, while the Lions fell to 1-3-0, 0-1-0 in TSC. TU continues conference play against Saint Thomas 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the TU Soccer Complex.

Jarrod Ingram recorded the first goal of the game in the 26th minute off a pass from Severin Abt, his ninth goal of the season. Keven Guillen tied the game for FMU in the 39th minute. The game was knotted at 1-1 into the locker room.

The game remained tied at the end of regulation and the first overtime. A TU attacking player was taken down in the 18-yard box by a Lions defender and was awarded a penalty kick. Rodriguez stepped up and scored the game winner for his first goal of the season.

Lee Howarth registered five saves in goal for the Night Hawks.

TU took 16 shots in the game and put four on frame.
