Night Hawks Fall to Keiser in Twin Bill

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Thomas University baseball team dropped a doubleheader, 9-5 in game one and 10-7 in game two, against Keiser (Fla.) Saturday at Silvester Field.
The Night Hawks fell to 17-26, 4-13 in The Sun Conference, while the Seahawks improved to 29-16, 12-6 TSC on the season.

TU scored 12 runs on 23 hits in the afternoon.

GAME ONE
The Night Hawks took the lead in the third inning. Gavin Murphy singled to the pitcher for TU that scored Jalbert Melo and cut the Keiser lead to 2-1. Reed Melcolm then singled to center that plated Matthew Brady and tied the game. Yovanny Peguero grounded into a double play that scored Jeremy Crosby but gave Thomas its first lead of the game at 3-2.

The Seahawks responded when Jack Curtis singled up the middle and drove in two RBI's that put Keiser up 4-3 in the third.

In the fifth, Peguero reached on a fielder's choice that drove in Crosby and tied the score at four a piece.

Peguero struck again with a single to center field and scored Crosby that put the Night Hawks up 5-4 in the seventh.

Curtis drove in the winning run with a double to center field in the bottom half of the seventh. Two runners scored and he put the Seahawks on top 6-5.

Jordan Martin received the loss on seven innings pitched with six runs on 11 hits and struck out six, while Nick Riley threw one inning of relief allowing three runs on three hits and struck out two.

GAME TWO

Keiser started off the game with a run in the first inning and two runs in the second.

In the third, Crosby singled up the middle and scored to but TU on the scoreboard, but trailed 3-1.

Keiser scored seven runs between the third and fourth innings before TU scored runs in the fifth and six that closed the Seahawks lead to 10-3.

JR Cruess drove in two runs on a double to third in the eighth and cut the Keiser advantage in half, 10-5. In the same inning, Melo helped score two more runs on a fielding error by the second baseman.

Neal Hunter threw 3.1 innings with 10 runs on 10 hits and struck out three, while Joshua Roye pitched 4.2 innings and allowed no runs on two hits and struck out two.
