THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Lady Night Hawks Softball team (13-16) swept the Middle Georgia State University Knights (16-21), in a Saturday afternoon non-conference double header at Armory Field.
In game one, TU walked off with a 9-8 victory, after coming from behind to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore
Kayla Johnson (3-3, 2 R, 3 RBI) had three hits and drove in three runs. Fellow sophomore
Kelsey Connolly (2-4, R, 2 RBI) contributed with two RBI's of her own. Junior pitcher
Ashley Sikes (2-4) picked up the win out of the pen, tossing four innings while limiting MGSU to two runs on five hits.
TU, once again, fell behind early in game two, surrendering two runs in the top of the first but they would go on to score four in the second and one run in the third, fifth and sixth to jump ahead 7-2. Middle Georgia scored two in the seventh but Thomas closed the door for a 7-4 win and double header sweep. Senior
Alex VanWagner (1-4, R, 3 RBI) and sophomore
Trinity Strickland (2-3, R, 3 RBI) each drove in three runs.
Thomas will return to Sun Conference action, at home, tomorrow, when they host University of South Carolina - Beaufort. First pitch at Armory is set for 12 p.m.
