Strong Second Half Pushes Florida Memorial Past TU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team fell to Florida Memorial, 103-78, on Saturday at the FMU Wellness Center. TU had five players score in double figures.

The Night Hawks went to 4-4, 2-2 in The Sun Conference, while the Lions went to 1-6, 1-2 in TSC. TU travels to take on Coastal Georgia 2 p.m. Saturday in Brunswick, Ga.

J'Nyiah Daniels led the Night Hawks with 19 points, while Daycia Bandy added 13 points and three assists. Arianna Anderson pulled down a team best eight rebounds for the Night Hawks.

De'Audra Copeland converted a jumper and gave the Night Hawks a 12-11 lead with three minutes left in the first quarter. The Lions held a 24-16 lead at the end of the first period.

Florida Memorial opened the second quarter on a 10-2 run and opened up a 31-18 lead. The Night Hawks closed the half on a 12-4 run and cut the FMU lead to 43-39 at the break.

The Lions went on a 16-4 run and opened up a 62-46 lead with four minutes remaining in the third period. The Night Hawks closed the period on a 5-2 run while FMU held a 77-58 lead.

TU went on a 6-0 run in the fourth quarter while FMU led 84-64. The Night Hawks closed the game on a 6-2 run.
